The German Army Helmet
The German army helmet is a highly-prized item for many militaria collectors. The Pickelhaube, the spiked helmet, was worn from the 1840's until 1916. It was replaced by the Stahlhelm which was designed for the trench warfare of the First World War of 1914 - 1918.
The distinctive design of the German army helmet has also inspired a range of motorcycle helmets.
